WISHAW High School FP crashed out of the third round of the Scottish Amateur Cup at a windswept Williamwood High School, Clarkston, on Saturday. Despite a host of first-team call-offs and a rather depleted substitutes bench consisting mainly of FP committee members, with the exception of David McCluskey, boss Gary Hailstones was confident his starting 11 were good enough to win the match. As in 1961, 1969, 1972 and 2004, they finished as league leaders before going on to win the Championship final, the successes of 2007 and 2008 being achieved from second spot on the table. ven than five years ago and to win it in the emphatic way they did was a wonderful achievement.

Leeds have reached the Super League Grand Final for the third successive season after scoring a 27-20 win against Catalans Dragons at Headingley Carnegie. As the scoreline suggests, the home side and clear favourites did not have the contest all their own way as their French opponents produced a display filled with aggression. Les Catalans were holding their own during a low-scoring but nevertheless high quality first half but Brian McClennan's side came into their own when it mattered.
